Things to do in Guatemala
Although we'll only be there two weeks, there's a lot to see in Guatemala. You may want to check the following sites:
- Lonely Planet Guide - the definitive "backpackers guide," LP is a reputable travel guide that provides helpful info about what to do and what not to do in every country in the world. They cater to people traveling on a shoestring.
- Old Town Outfitters - this is the company we'll be using for our weekend adventure.
- Antigua, Guatemala - this is where we'll stay each night. You may want to google it, to see what other sites say about it. The wikitravel site is actually pretty good. So, have a look. The famous Arco de Santa Catalina is below (with the Agua Volcano is the background). You'll pass through this every day.
Official business
- US State Department's site on Guatemala - see what our government says about Guatemala (visa requirements, health/medical issues, safety concerns, etc.).
- Passport site - get your passport now! You'll also want to register with the State Department here, before you leave. This lets them know where you'll be and for how long.
